From 4-5 pm on Thursday, Oct. 19, in 512 Green Hall, Tyler Hollifield, CCP-SLP, will deliver a talk titled “Speech-Language Pathology: An Intersection of Science, Communication, and…Food?” sponsored by the Linguistics Program at Wake Forest University.

Picture it! You’re halfway through your semester of Introduction to Linguistics, and you’re really enjoying it so far. Perhaps you would like to take a few more classes with the Linguistics program, but you’re wondering if it is really worth it, since after all, what can you do with a Linguistics degree? Maybe you have a love for medicine and science, yet also really enjoy studying languages. It could be that you’re still searching for a career path that ultimately leads to a job that makes a difference in other’s lives. Perhaps you just want to know how a shared interest in science, communication, and food can ultimately lead to a career. During this talk, I will answer these questions and more by introducing the field of speech-language pathology, with a particular focus on the life of an acute care speech-language pathologist.

Bio: Tyler Hollifield is an inpatient speech-language pathologist at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
